Workshop Overview

Change is inevitable and our work lives are full of transitions and endings. If managed well change can be highly creative,  develop people’s resilience and create a more flexible and adaptive culture.  If managed poorly it can waste  time and resources plus demotivate and cause stress and anxiety – the organisational impact can be profound. In this workshop we will help people effectively manage change – whether it is something going on in their life (house move or divorce) or part of an organisational change (change of role, re-organisation or redundancy).

We will look at the cycle of change, a process to manage projects and the 8 conditions to effectively lead small to large scale change programmes:

  1. Creating a business case for change.
  2. Defining a vision for change.
  3. Producing a stakeholder plan to ensure the buy-in of key decision makers and building the competence of leadership to deliver the change.
  4. Designing the communication and involvement plan to ensure the buy in of those needed to make the changes.
  5. Providing the training needed for those who you need to implement the change.
  6. Planning the project.
  7. Building a culture that will enable the change.
  8. Designing the organisational structure and performance management to support the changes.

We will also look at the importance of endings and how they can evoke strong feelings for us including excitement, fear, anger and loss. We will learn that our own experience of endings early in our childhood often influence how we cope with subsequent endings and changes in life. This understanding can help leaders effectively manage the emotional factors around change which increases the success of these projects.
